ABSTRACT
The lack of innovation as well as the lack of development in designs and products of tie-dye techniques has led to a decrease in interest and marketability for tie-dye products in the market. Designs with common forms along with the tie-dye products that are only used as fashion products without innovation and development create a monotonous impression for consumers. This is a challenge for designers (craftsmen) to create different products and have their own character to meet the needs of the consumers. The author tries to develop a tie-dye technique with a combination of trapunto with the theme of Life Flow in this Final Project. The term Trapunto comes from Italian word which means to sew patchwork. Trapunto is one of the sewing art skills, where some parts of the design are decorated with images that contain lumps of cotton, wool or yarn, so that they will form images that arise on the surface of the fabric. The design that was carried out resulted in eight unique and attractive designs, with the technique of tritik, jumput and smock with a combination of trapunto which was applied to interior products namely partitions. It is expected that the Development of the Tie-Dye and Trapunto Technique for Partitions can add variety to the tie-dye products.
