Abstract

Difabis Coffee & Tea is a cafe that employs Deaf Baristas and hearing volunteers and sells food and drinks. This study aims to create a mobile application based on Deaf Cultural Illustrations at Difabis Coffee & Tea, which supports communication through Deaf Cultural Illustrations using BISINDO Sign Language. Deaf Cultural Illustrations are facial images that show the values and character traits of Deaf Baristas. Deaf Cultural Illustrations function as important visual elements in mobile application design to clearly display the character of Deaf Baristas. The main focus in the UI/UX Design of Mobile Applications Based on Deaf Cultural Illustrations at Difabis Coffee & Tea using BISINDO Sign Language is applied on the Onboarding, Select Language, Login, Forgot Password, OTP Verification, until Success pages, to provide BISINDO Sign Language vocabulary for deaf users and hearing customers. The method used in this study is Design Thinking, which has four main steps: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Testing. The UI/UX Design Process for Mobile Applications Based on Deaf Culture Illustrations at Difabis Coffee & Tea was carried out through the Empathize Stage (User Understanding), Define Stage (Problem Formulation), and Prototype Creation.
