Abstract

This study aims to design a cultural exploration game of North Sumatra as a medium for cultural introduction and preservation in the digital world. The game is developed by incorporating local cultural elements such as traditional houses, traditional clothing, arts, music, and local wisdom values, which are presented through an interactive digital experience. This approach is expected to increase the interest of younger generations in regional culture through a medium that is closely related to their daily lives.
The research method includes a literature review on North Sumatran culture and game design theories, observation of culture-based digital educational media, and the process of designing visual assets and game mechanics. The results indicate that the integration of cultural elements into visual design, exploration flow, and gameplay systems plays a significant role in creating an engaging and educational gaming experience. This research is expected to serve as a reference for game developers and creative industry practitioners in developing culture-based digital media as a tool for cultural education and preservation in the digital era
