Journal of Knowledge, Thought, and Studies on Sound (Keteg), Vol. 26 No. 1 (2026) presents a diverse collection of scholarship on sound, music, and performance from contributors representing a range of academic institutions and cultural backgrounds in Indonesia and abroad. The articles explore topics spanning traditional musical communication, the historical development of ethnomusicology, ritual music practices, gender and performance interpretation in gamelan, and regional identities in karawitan traditions. Reflecting both thematic and authorial diversity, this issue brings together perspectives from researchers affiliated with universities in Indonesia, China, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea. Collectively, the contributions highlight the richness of ethnomusicological inquiry and demonstrate how sound and music function as mediums of communication, cultural expression, identity formation, and social engagement across diverse communities.
